A Sacred Daze Podcast

An esoteric transmission dispatched from the Wild Woods of the Superior National Forest near the Boundary Waters.

Welcome to Sacred Daze Podcast, presented by Sacred Saturdaze Studio [S*S*S]. I'm our host - Joh.

Twice a month we’ll gather to discuss the current cosmic forecast, swim - soak - float in our mystical musings while we tend to our creative flames.

Tarot, Cannabis, and Witchy Nature Shit are all on the program.

My hope is that with each episode, you’ll be inspired to get outdoors & explore nature. Liberate your magical self and fuel your creative energy.

Tarot

“Tarot is a medicinal act. It's a partnership. It's a time for us to hold sacred space together in order to share and exchange our existence with each other, while we traverse the psychic landscape.”

Tarot is a therapeutic tool, a healing support system to go inward and understand what elements are lying underneath your surface and within your stratosphere. I'm not in the business of predicting the future. I'm in the business of digging into YOU. Into US. Into the HUMAN EXPERIENCE. And how Tarot can resonate on a deep personal level so we can connect intimately on this journey called life.

Sacred Daze podcast will dive into Tarot Teachings like:

  • Current Sun Sign Tarot Card

  • Personal Anchor Cards for the month

  • Tarot Cards for weekend vibes

  • Focusing on a specific card's meaning (with special guests)

  • Tarot Teaching of spreads like the S*S*S Annual Tarot Spread, Moon spreads and more

  • Reviews of certain Tarot decks

  • Tarot Rituals like cleansing and charging your deck

  • Rune for the Season

  • Answer Tarot Questions

  • and more!

Cannabis

“This plant is medicinal, therapeutic, expansive, sacred, hilarious and fun. And also - a privilege.”

My relationship to Cannabis is a multi-dimensional relationship. First, I recognize my privilege being able to enjoy this plant while many others are incarcerated because of racism, police profiling & brutality and the War on Drugs - visit The Last Prisoner Project to learn more.

Because of this, Sacred Saturdaze Studio is a member of the Floret Coalition - an anti-racist action collective that supports Black, LatinX and Indigenous organizations by monthly donations and spreading the good word. Breaking down white supremacy and promoting libration for all is one of the foundational pillars of Sacred Saturdaze Studio that we bring into light through all our endeavors.

On the Sacred Daze podcast, I also speak to the never-ending benefits that this plant can give us. From anxiety to chronic pain to sleep to fun to creativity to spiritual/physical/emotional healing - Cannabis is so so sacred to me. You can check out my Cannabis Journey here, and on each episode we will highlight:

  • A Cannabis Idol

  • A brand or company

  • An industry update

  • High Stories (with special guests)

  • How to dip your toes into Cannabis in a way that is suitable for baby green novices or throwback experts.

Witchy

"I am out with lanterns…looking for myself." - Emily Dickinson

Hello, my name is Joh and I'm a Witch.

This term 'Witch' used to rub me the wrong way - I didn't identify with it because of all the historical connotations & societal restrictions and fear surrounding it.

But now I realize in recent years - I am an evolving Witch and there is no stopping it. Mage, Wisdom, Priestess, Shaman, Hermit, Sorceress, Healer, Nature Creature, Stardust - I AM ALL OF IT BABY. AND SO ARE YOU (only if you want to be - no pressure).

Witch is a term of radical freedom, of living outside of what society wants you to be - a Wild Womxn, someone who is searching, transcending, growing into the most authentic version of themselves. It's someone who appreciates the elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth and Sprit. Someone who respects this planet and its humanity. Someone who believes in the mysteries of the universe and doesn't need all the answers because the feeling, the intuition - is real enough.

But don't get it twisted - it's not all 'woo woo'. Witches are critical thinkers. Activists. Rebels. Witches fight for everyone, as Pam Grossman says on her Witch Wave podcast "Witches are the future!" And I truly believe that.

I always think back to a time when I was at The Shvitz, a bathhouse in Detroit - sweating & naked with a bunch of womxn and I witnessed someone turn to their friend and ask "How is your creativity doing?" It was a question that blew my mind, as I never asked myself that question before. Creativity, artistry, self-expression, sensuality - it is all connected and intertwined with our spirit, and historically womxn who express their creativity and THEIR POWER have been called Witches - forsaken and demonized.

You don't have to be a Witch to listen to this podcast, but I invite you to keep an open mind on what a Witch is.

Nature Shit

One of these days, I'd love to have you come out here. Where Sacred Saturdaze Studio resides.

We are located near the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota - surrounded by the Superior National Forest.

The Sacred Daze Podcast & S*S*S acknowledges that we reside on the unceded land of the Anishinaabe people. We honor them by donating monthly AICHO - the American Indian Community Housing Organization in Duluth, MN.

I can’t explain how beautiful, peaceful, magical, mind-blowing, and sacred this place and land is. I am in a love affair with Nature. I constantly find myself entangled in her love story and I never want it to end.

Audibly, the land sings a beautiful harmony that is so penetrating to the nervous system you will ease and relax and release immediately.

We are transitioning to live up here full time which is a process I'm sure we'll discuss more, but in the meantime we’ve embedded ourselves into the delicate eco-system here, as participating stewards of the land.

Tending to the land is an honor and a privilege. To put our hands into the dirt. To swim in her waters. To give offerings and plant wild flowers.

We have an open buffet of apples and feed for all the wild chipmunks, birds, foxes, deer, in our area while being hyper-aware and respectful to the bears, wolves and moose of these woods. And the Lynx. Can't forget the powerful, magical Lynx. We already have a few lynx and wolf stories to say the least.

And as The Wheel of the Seasons turn, so do we.

In the Summer, we discover & play. You can sometimes hear a buzzing frequency in the air. A low hum of all the insects coming alive for the evening. It’s like a choir rehearsal just at twilight. The forests are lush. We witness deer swim to the islands in the lakes. And Loons call to each other thanking the day and welcoming the night.

In the Fall, we harvest & get rooted. The nights become cooler and longer. The Northern Lights show up if you're lucky to catch them! Bonfires blaze, soup season enters the picture. And the foliage. Holy moly, the colors of Fall are poetry within itself. It's my favorite time of year.

In the Winter, we hibernate & ruminate. Up here in the wild North, it feels as though we are on another planet. The lakes become terrain of the moon herself. The stillness of the winter is a reminder of our own cycles we go through as human beings. Because we are spiralic, not linear - just like nature herself. I have surprisingly fallen in love with Winter.

And in the Spring, we awake and are reborn. The thaw finally comes and we are revived once again into the natural wild beauty of this land. Lupines flourish, Luna Moths make their debut and we plant seeds for what is to come as we move through The Wheel again.

The Sacred Daze podcast will always touch on nature. Whether its:

  • Seasons baby. We will document the seasons together. (with special guests)

  • Moon phases & weather updates from the Wild Woods.

  • Star gazing, finding stars & planets in our solar system and discussing history of constellations

  • Facts about animals you never knew CAUSE I'M LEARNING A LOT.

  • What the land is currently speaking to as an ancestral offering or wisdom.

  • How to get outside & explore nature yourself - especially if you live in a concrete jungle, like I have for the past decade. I get it. It's hard to connect and commune with nature sometimes, but we ourselves are apart of nature so it's never too far away - I promise you.

There is an intersectionality with all of these topics - Tarot + Cannabis + Witchy + Nature Shit. And I would be honored to traverse this landscape with you! We'll have periodic special guests on the Sacred Daze podcast, we'll keep the format simple and fun. And I hope you enjoy it while we grow, expand and evolve together.

Over & Out.

Joh
